The 24-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for Belgian Pro League side Club Brugge, is said to be open to joining Okan Buruk’s side. Reports emanating from Turkey indicate that the “Yellow and Reds” have reached an agreement with the midfielder’s representatives.
Onyedika has already signaled his “green light” for the move, agreeing to a long-term, four-year contract with an option for a further year. The deal includes a base salary of €1m per year, which could rise significantly with performance-based bonuses.
This move marks the conclusion of a long-term pursuit by the Turkish giants, who first attempted to sign Onyedika in the summer of 2024. While Club Brugge initially held out for a fee as high as €25m–€30m, they have reportedly softened their stance to facilitate the transfer, settling on a package closer to €20m–€23m.
At Galatasaray, Onyedika is expected to step directly into a starting role, likely partnering with Lucas Torreira to form one of the most physically imposing midfields in the Süper Lig. A major factor in his decision to choose Istanbul over interest from the English Premier League and Serie A is the presence of his international teammate, Victor Osimhen.
Onyedika is currently on international duty with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
