Spanish side Real Zaragoza have officially announced the signing of Moroccan defender Jawad El Yamiq, following his departure from Saudi club Al-Najma.
El Yamiq terminated his contract with Al-Najma by mutual consent and joined Zaragoza on a free transfer. The Moroccan centre-back had only joined the Saudi club at the start of the current season, arriving from Al-Wehda.
This move marks a return to familiar ground for El Yamiq, who previously played for Real Zaragoza during the second half of the 2019/2020 season.
The 33-year-old featured in seven matches for Al-Najma since the beginning of the season before sealing his return to Spanish football.
Real Zaragoza currently compete in Spain’s Segunda División and are enduring a difficult campaign, sitting in 21st place (second from bottom) with 22 points, five points behind Huesca, who occupy 18th place, the lowest position that avoids relegation.
On the international stage, El Yamiq is an experienced figure for Morocco, having earned 41 caps and scored four goals for the national team. He was also part of the Moroccan squad that competed in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
