Remo Stars crowned 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League champions

Remo Stars sealed their first ever Nigeria Premier Football League title following a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Niger Tornadoes at Remo Star Stadium on Sunday.


Remo needed a 84th minute goal courtesy of Olamilekan Muhammed Adebayo to seal the points they needed to lay their hands on the coveted the trophy.


The win enabled Remo Stars to reach 68 points from 35 points. They managed 21 wins, five draws and suffered nine defeats. They are topping the log with 10 points ahead of second-placed Rivers United, who have 58, garnered from 16 wins, 10 draws and nine defeats.


Abia Warriors are third with 56 points accumulated from 17 wins, five draws and 13 defeats while Ikorodu City are fourth with 53 points gained from 15 wins, eight draws and 12 defeats.

Remo Stars was founded in 2004 by Kunle Soname as FC Dender. In 2010, continuous hard work of the club saw them promoted to the second tier of Nigerian Football, the Nigeria National League (NNL).


In 2018, Remo Stars were relegated from the top-flight to the Nigeria National League. In September 2021, Remo Stars secured promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after finishing second in Nigeria National League (NNL) playoff Group A.


By lifting the title, they became first Southwest club since 1991 when Julius Berger won it.
