Reigning Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Remo Stars, have signed Chigozie Chilekwu ahead of the 2025-26 season, marking the left-back’s return to the Nigerian top flight.
The club officially announced the signing on Tuesday, confirming the experienced defender has joined the Sky Blue Stars for the upcoming season.
Chilekwu left the NPFL for a move to Tanzanian side Tabora United two seasons ago.
His move to the East African side came after a triumphant campaign with Nigerian giants Enyimba, where he was an integral part of the squad that clinched the NPFL title.
The 28-year-old left-back has also featured for Sunshine Stars, Lobi Stars, and Akwa United in the past.
Chilekwu will be a direct replacement for Emeka Nwokeji, who left Remo Stars earlier in the week.
“Chigozie Chilekwu is the newest member of the Sky Blue Stars family. The left back joins following his stint with Tabora Utd in Tanzania,” reads the club statement.
