Remo Stars to receive grand trophy presentation from NPFL

Newly crowned Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Remo Stars, are set to celebrate in grand style.

According to Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, plans are in the final stages to deliver an outstanding and colourful trophy presentation ceremony befitting their recent triumph.

The Sky Blue Stars will be presented with the league trophy on Sunday, May 11. The award ceremony will follow their Matchday 37 match against Ikorodu City at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

According to Owumi, a team comprising NPFL and Remo Stars management have been adding the finishing touches to the plan. He noted there is a slight adjustment to the kick-off time of the match between Remo Stars and Ikorodu City.

The match, originally scheduled to kick-off at 4pm, has been brought forward an hour to 3pm. Owumi said the adjustment is to ensure the safety of dignitaries and fans who will be travelling to Ikenne from Lagos for the trophy presentation ceremony at the end of the match.

“There will obviously be many fans from both clubs travelling from Lagos for this match. In addition, we will be having dignitaries arriving through Lagos, and it will be ideal for them to travel back under the light of day for safety reasons,” said Owumi.

With three matches still left to play in the NPFL 2024/2025 season, Remo Stars clinched their first-ever league title following a decisive 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in Matchday 35.
