The Ethiopian Premier League Share Company (EPLSC) has revised the 2024/25 standings after the Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) decided the fate of Sidama Coffee, Mechal, and Hawassa Ketema.
The three clubs were handed losses in some league fixtures for fielding ineligible players. Mechal and Sidama Coffee ended their season in the bottom four after the deduction of points.
The EPLSC officially disclosed the number of games each team was found guilty of forfeiting. Sidama Coffee lost 12 league games for fielding six suspended players. Mechal forfeited 10 games for fielding seven ineligible players. Hawassa Ketema lost four league games for using Isreal Eshetu in those matches.
Hawassa Ketema striker Ali Sulieman retained his top scorer award, but the league canceled two of his goals, ending his season tally at 19. Other players also saw their goal tallies reduced due to the new developments.
The revised table shows champions Ethiopian Insurance finishing with 73 points. Saint George finished sixth with 52 points. Sidama Coffee are 17th with 27 points, while Mechal ended 15th with 33 points.
