Richards Bay coach Ronnie Gabriel has confirmed that the club will meet with Kaizer Chiefs to discuss the possibility of retaining midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane beyond his current loan spell.
The 30-year-old Mdantsane has been on loan at Richards Bay from Chiefs this season, joining the KZN side in February, having struggled for consistent game time at Naturena since his arrival two seasons ago.
In search of regular game time at Richards Bay, Mdantsane also struggled at the KZN side as he made only three league appearances for the club, which finished the 2024/25 season in eighth position with 33 points.
Mdantsane joined Amakhosi in 2023 on a three-year deal, which is set to run until June 30, 2026, and he is set to return to his parent club.
Richards Bay coach Ronnie Gabriel is full of praise for Mdantsane’s positive attitude and his overall contribution to the team. With his loan spell now coming to an end, Gabriel confirmed that discussions will be held with management regarding the midfielder's future.
“Yes, it was a season-long loan. So that’s as far as we know,” Gabriel told the media. “So, we’ll decide what we do going forward. He has been good for the team... with a good attitude.
“We will have to check, if you look at the pros and cons and really where we need him and then we can take it from there.”
