Former Orlando Pirates assistant coach Carlos Nodar has been confirmed as part of Jose Riveiro's new technical team at Al Ahly.

This move follows Riveiro's own departure from Pirates after a successful three-year tenure, during which he secured five trophies with the Soweto giants.

Al Ahly officially announced Riveiro's appointment after securing their 45th Egyptian Premier League title. This move was widely anticipated after Bucs granted Riveiro an early release "to join a new club."

Al Ahly confirmed on Thursday that the Spanish coach put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

In a statement, the Cairo giants said: “Club president Mahmoud El Khatib met with the new technical staff. During the meeting, they agreed on working mechanisms for the next phase, defined responsibilities, and emphasised full cooperation among all staff members to serve the team’s interests.”

Meanwhile, Carlos Nodar Paz joined Pirates at the start of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season, serving in a dual capacity as both a physical trainer and assistant coach.

He was unveiled as part of Riveiro's technical team, which also includes Miguel Pepeira as the physical trainer, Juan José as the goalkeeper coach, and Sebastian Podsiadly as the performance analyst.
