Rivers Angels have been crowned the 2025 President Federation Cup women’s champions after a 4-2 penalty shootout win over Nasarawa Amazons in the final at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Saturday.
The Jewel of Rivers retained their crown by fighting back from a 0-2 halftime deficit to bounce back and send the game into extra time before winning the trophy for the 10th time.
Nasarawa Amazons’ Olusola Shobowale gave the Solid Babes the lead after seven minutes following poor defending inside the Rivers Angels box, before she completed her brace 10 minutes later.
However Rivers Angels fought back in the second half through a brace from Taiwo Ajibade goal the deficit three minutes before the hour mark, she then equalized in the 62nd minute.
After 90 minutes of thrilling action the game went straight into penalties. Rivers Angels converted four kicks while Nasarawa Amazons could only convert twice.
