President Federation Cup defending champions Rivers Angels have punched their ticket to the 2025 final, securing their spot with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ibom Angels in Saturday's semi-final clash at Enyimba Stadium in Aba.
Aminat Folorunsho’s second-half goal lifted the Jewels of Rivers to get another Cup final.
Ifeoma Polinus had the first chance of the encounter in the fifth minute, but the Orange Ladies goalkeeper, Godstime Dickson, saved the attempt.
Folorunsho was not to be denied in the 63rd minute as her shot beat Dickson scoring the winning goal in the process.
Rivers Angels were reduced to 10 players in the additional minutes of the second half as Otubo was sent off for retaliation. That couldn’t deny them the qualification for the final.
Cup holders Rivers Angels, who have won the competition nine times, will have their hands full against 2005 and 2019 champions Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia. Amazons avenged their Super Six disappointment as they defeated Edo Queens 2-0 to reach the cup final.
Second half goals from Ayatsea Hembafan and Bibiana Odoh in Ayingba sealed victory for the Lafia based side in the semi final. Hembafan broke the deadlock in the 70th minute while Odoh sealed the win in the 88th minute.
The last time the Nasarawa Amazons won a title was in 2019 with the FA Cup, their second trophy before the Cup competition eas renamed President Federation Cup.
