Riyad Mahrez: “I don’t promise trophies — we need our fans”

Algerian international Riyad Mahrez sent an emotional message to Al Ahli Saudi fans after his team’s impressive 4–0 victory over Al Gharafa of Qatar.

The match, held at Al Inma Stadium in the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, was part of the third round of the AFC Champions League Elite (West Zone).

Speaking to Asharq newspaper after the game, Mahrez said:

“Stay with us because we need you. We’ve been through tough moments, but we will come back stronger. We need our fans during difficult times.”

The Algerian star added:

“I don’t promise trophies, but we’ll take things step by step. We didn’t start the season the way we wanted, but we’re a big club, and our goal is to be ready when it matters — in the semi-finals of the Champions League and at the top of the league table.”

Riyad Mahrez concluded with determination:

“I promised them the league title, and God willing, we’ll work hard to make it happen.”
