Riyad Mahrez named best player of AFC Champions League Elite

Algerian star Riyad Mahrez has been voted the Best Player of the AFC Champions League Elite 2024/2025 following a standout campaign with Al Ahli Saudi.


Mahrez claimed the prestigious individual honor through a public vote conducted on the official website of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), beating out several names including Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo of Al Nassr.

The Algerian winger secured 5,765 votes, accounting for 57.65% of the total, comfortably ahead of Ronaldo, who finished second with 3,748 votes (37.48%).


Mahrez was instrumental in leading Al Ahli to their first-ever AFC Champions League title, making history for the club in spectacular fashion. He finished the tournament with 9 goals and 8 assists, underlining his immense impact on the team’s historic success.


This accolade adds to Mahrez’s growing legacy as one of the greatest African and Arab players of his generation, now etching his name into the annals of Asian football history.
