Cape Town Spurs have confirmed the appointment of Roger de Sa as the club's new technical director after their relegation to the ABC Motsepe League.
He parted ways with Cape Town City FC following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship
De Sa, a highly experienced figure in both South African and international football, is tasked with spearheading the club's long-term strategic vision and future footballing direction.
His primary mandate is to build a sustainable, high-performance structure aligned with the club’s ambitions, starting with immediate preparations for the upcoming season.
Bringing a wealth of knowledge, De Sa's role as assistant coach to Carlos Queiroz with the Egyptian and Iranian National Teams has exposed him to cutting-edge international trends and elite-level preparation.
"We are thrilled to welcome Roger de Sa back to Cape Town Spurs in this pivotal role," said CEO Alexi Efstathiou. "His deep understanding of the game, proven track record, and exposure to the highest levels of international football under a coach like Carlos Queiroz make him the ideal candidate to drive our football strategy forward.
"Roger possesses the vision, expertise, and passion required to build a successful future for this historic club. We are confident he will make a significant impact, starting with preparing the team robustly for the new season."
Meanwhile, De Sa expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "I am incredibly excited and honoured to take on the role of Technical Director at Cape Town Spurs. This is a club with immense potential and a passionate supporter base.
"My time working internationally has given me unique insights into modern football development and high-performance environments, which I am eager to apply here. I look forward to working with the board, the coaching staff, the players, and everyone associated with the club to implement a clear strategy, build for the future, and ensure we are fully prepared and competitive for the upcoming campaign. The hard work starts now."
While there have been murmurs about Spurs potentially acquiring a professional status, the club is currently focusing on preparing for life in the ABC Motsepe League.
