Rising star Nail El Aynaoui has decided to represent Morocco at international level after a meeting with Atlas Lions head coach Walid Regragui in Paris.
The 24-year-old midfielder, born in Nancy and holding both French and Moroccan nationalities, had been eligible to represent either country. According to Moroccan daily Al-Mountakhab, El Aynaoui confirmed his commitment to the Moroccan national team following Regragui’s efforts to secure young talents capable of strengthening the squad for upcoming competitions.
El Aynaoui, who plays for AS Roma, expressed his full readiness to wear the Atlas Lions’ jersey and is now awaiting an official call-up for the September international window.
Morocco, who lead their World Cup qualifying group with a perfect 15 points from five matches, will face Niger on September 5 before taking on Zambia three days later.
