Ronald Ssekiganda finally joins APR FC after prolonged transfer drama

The long-running transfer saga surrounding Ugandan midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda has finally come to an end, with the lanky midfielder officially unveiled by Rwandan giants APR FC.

Ssekiganda’s move had been clouded in uncertainty for months, with intense speculation and back-and-forth negotiations keeping fans and pundits on edge. Now, the former SC Villa captain embarks on a fresh chapter, having signed a two-year deal with the Rwanda Premier League champions.

A key figure in Uganda’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign, Ssekiganda attracted interest from several top clubs in the region before opting for APR. His switch comes at a pivotal moment in his career as he looks forward to testing himself in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.

At APR, he joins a growing contingent of Ugandan players, including star forward Denis Omedi and speedy winger Hakim Kiwanuka. His arrival also follows the recent departure of fellow Ugandan midfielder Taddeo Lwanga, who officially parted ways with the club.

Ssekiganda leaves Uganda having led SC Villa to their record-extending 17th league title in the 2023/24 season, during which he served as team captain and earned widespread praise for his leadership and performances. His departure marks the end of a memorable era at Villa Park, and the beginning of a new challenge in Kigali.
