The decisive moments arrived one in each half, sealing a performance that underlined Kitara’s growing authority in knockout football.
The Round of 32 tie, staged at Royal Park in Butema on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, saw the Royals blend patience with clinical finishing to get the job done.
Before the breakthrough, the visitors were anything but overawed. Entebbe UPPC defended with grit and even threatened to steal the lead, coming close through league top scorer Ambrose Kigozi and recent recruit Samuel Nsubuga. Their resistance, however, finally cracked in the 32nd minute when George Ssenkaaba found the net to hand Kitara control heading into the break.

A tactical reshuffle early in the second half shifted the momentum decisively. Kitara introduced Hussein Ssenoga and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa, replacing Gadafi Wahab and Frank Tumwesigye, and the changes paid off.
With ten minutes remaining, Wasswa living up to his super-sub billing finished off the contest and extinguished any hopes of a comeback.
The win keeps alive the Royals’ pursuit of another cup run to remember, having previously lifted this trophy in the 2023–2024 season.
They now advance to the Round of 16, where they join sides such as Kampala Capital City Authority FC, who edged Mbarara City 1–0 at MTN Omondi Stadium thanks to a diving header from captain Filbert Obenchan on Sunday.
For Kitara and Entebbe UPPC, there will be little time to dwell on this result. The two sides meet again on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, at the same venue, Royal Park, Butema this time in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter.
Beyond domestic bragging rights, the stakes remain high and the eventual winner secures the nation’s slot in the CAF Confederation Cup, adding extra weight to every step taken from here on.
