Senegal international Mamadou Lamine Camara is dreaming of playing for the Teranga Lions at the next Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Morocco later this year.

The 22-year-old is on the roster of Morocco Botola League side, RS Berkane and he believes his experience in the Botola League will come in handy for the former African champions. Camara, who has featured for Senegal at all youth levels, wants to be part of coach Pape Thiaw’s squad as Senegal looks to challenge for continental supremacy.

“Here in Morocco, I feel at home,” he said. “It would be a dream to play the AFCON here. Inshallah, I hope I’ll be part of the squad. I’ll do my best to make that happen,” Camara told Talents d’Afrique on Canal+ Sport.

Camara joined Moroccan club RS Berkane in 2021 and recently celebrated his 100th appearance for the club in April, marking a significant milestone in his fast rising career.

He has played seven matches with no goals in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup. His record in the Botola League is pegged at 25 matches with a single goal to his credit.

With the AFCON tournament drawing closer, Camara will look to book a shirt in coach Pape Thiaw’s squad that will be fiercely contested by a plethora of stars. Camara made his debut for Senegal's senior side back in 2023 during a qualifying match for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring and playing the entire match in a 1-1 draw with Rwanda.
