Former SuperSport United’s striker Evans Rusike has joined Botswana Premier League club Mochudi Centre Chiefs.
The 35-year-old former Zimbabwean international has joined the FNB Premiership team after leaving relegated Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier League team, Yadah FC where he spent two seasons.
In a statement, Mochudi Centre Chiefs confirmed that Ruskie has penned a one-year and six-month contract.
“Rusike brings with him a distinguished professional career, having previously featured for top South African sides Sekhukhune United FC, Maritzburg United and SuperSport United, where he established himself as a reliable and respected forward,” reads the statement.
“As a seasoned campaigner, his experience, professionalism, and leadership qualities are expected to add significant value both on and off the pitch. We are confident that his presence will positively contribute to the team’s objectives and ambitions moving forward.
“We wish Evans Rusike every success during his time with the club and look forward to a fruitful and successful partnership. Welcome to the family.”
Rusike is among new recruits at Mochudi Centre Chiefs joining former Orlando Pirates Reserves coach Aubrey Vilakazi has come in as a goalkeeper coach. Mochudi Centre Chiefs have also hired Shagwa Mogwe as a Fitness, Strength and Conditioning Coach. Vilakazi’s arrival at the team has coincided with the departure of head coach Ponsho Moloi.
Mochudi Centre Chiefs lie in fifth place with 24 points, eight behind league leaders Gaborone United.
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Stanton Fredericks owns Mochudi Centre Chiefs FC through his consortium.
The former South African international recently signed a 15-year management contract with a sporting consortium which he leads. The consortium is called Stanton Fredericks Sports Group.
