The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has parted ways with senior national team coach Adel Amrouche, citing serious contractual breaches.
The federation confirmed the termination of the contract of the Algeria-born Belgian, barely 11 months on the job.
The statement said:
The Fédération Rwandaise de Football Association (FERWAFA) announces the termination of Mr. Adel Amrouche’s contract as head coach of the Rwanda men’s national football team, effective immediately.
This decision follows a thorough review of serious contractual breaches as specified in Article 17.2 of the employment contract. Mr. Amrouche was provided sufficient time to address these matters prior to this decision.
We thank Mr. Amrouche for his service to the federation and extend our best wishes for his future endeavours.
No further media statements will be issued regarding this matter.
End.
However, in an interview with Pan-Africa Football on Monday, the former Tanzania national team coach insisted that he did not breach his contract.
“There is no regret. It is good for me because they interfered in my work a lot,” the coach said.
Amrouche presided seven games, 6 of them were in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, winning once—1-0 over Zimbabwe—five defeats and one draw.
FERWAFA appointed Amrouche in March last year to replace German coach Torsten Spittler, who resigned in December 2024.
The federation is racing against time to recruit a coach to take charge of Amavubi during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which will get underway in March.
