Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame has congratulated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for winning the UEFA Champions League title after thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 on Saturday evening.

The leader of the East African nation took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to celebrate the victory of Luis Enrique’s outfit.

“Congratulations PSG...what a game/joy to watch! You did Fans and Partners Proud,” the Rwanda leader tweeted after the match.

Kagame’s support for the French Ligue 1 side is unsurprising considering that his government is the team’s shirt sponsor through the Visit Rwanda entity. Apart from PSG, Kagame is a big fan of Arsenal FC.

Last month, PSG announced the renewal of their Visit Rwanda for three more years, building on their initial agreement of 2029.

Upon renewal of the agreement, PSG CEO Victoriano Melero said: “We are looking forward to continuing this journey with Visit Rwanda. Together, we help showcase the cultural richness and natural beauty of Rwanda, while demonstrating that football can inspire and bring communities around the world closer together.”

Rwanda Development Board’s CEO, Jean-Guy Afrika, stated that the partnership has significantly contributed to positioning Rwanda as a leading destination for tourism and investment.

Visit Rwanda is the Rwanda Development Board’s tourism-centered entity responsible for accelerating Rwanda’s economic development by fostering private sector growth.
