Senegal national team head coach Pape Thiaw has announced his squad for upcoming June friendly matches and a familiar star will not be with the Lions of Teranga.
Senegal is scheduled to play two friendly matches:
Ireland vs. Senegal: June 6, 2025
England vs. Senegal: June 10, 2025
Notable Exclusion: Sadio Mané
Surprisingly, star forward Sadio Mané has been excluded from the current squad, despite there being no reported injuries.
Mané has had a productive season, participating in 47 games, scoring 18 goals, and providing 14 assists. His absence from the roster for these friendlies is a significant talking point, especially since other veterans were called in by Thiaw.
The Senegal squad list for England and Ireland in June is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Édouard Mendy, Mory Diaw, Yehvann Diouf
Defenders: Kalidou Koulibaly, Abdoulaye Seck, Abdou Diallo, Moussa Niakhaté, Ismail Jakobs, El Hadji Malick Diouf, Antoine Mendy
Midfielders: Idrissa Gana Gueye, Lamine Camara, Habib Diarra, Pathé Ciss, Pape Gueye, Krepin Diatta, Pape Matar Sarr, Mamadou Lamine Camara
Forwards: Ismaïla Sarr, Nicolas Jackson, Abdallah Sima, Iliman Ndiaye, Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly, Boulaye Dia, Idrissa Gueye, Cherif Ndiaye
These matches will provide an opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the squad ahead of future competitions, including the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games in September and October as well as 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in December.
