Sadio Mane scores for Saudi Pro League leaders Al Nassr

Sadio Mane was among the scorers as Al Nassr continued to set the pace at the top of the Saudi Pro League table with Sunday’s 4-1 victory over Al Khaleej.

The Senegalese superstar joined famous teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in scoring in the second half to maintain a perfect record for their club in league play. Al Nassr have won all nine of their matches, leaving them four points ahead of rivals Al Hilal.

Visitors Al Khaleej did produce their own share of opportunities but a strong end to the first half left the hosts on the front foot. Joao Felix opened the scoring in the 39th minute before setting up Wesley to double the lead three minutes later.

The visitors did pull a goal back soon after halftime but despite a valiant effort, Al Khaleej could not find their equalizer. Mane curled in his fourth goal of the season in all competitions in the 77th minute and Ronaldo added his goal deep into second half stoppage time. It was a strong return from international duty for Mane, who scored a hat-trick against Kenya in a friendly match for Senegal last week.

Mane and Ronaldo will now turn their attention to the AFC Champions League 2, where Al Nassr will travel to Tajikistan for a clash against Istiqlol Dushanbe. Both players may get a rest considering the Saudi giants are in a strong position after winning all four matches so far in Group D.
