Girma kick-started his career at his hometown club, Hawassa Ketema, where he won a league title before starting a long and successful career at Saint George. After retirement, the versatile ex-player worked on his coaching badge. Last season, Girma was Saint George’s team leader but now he will assist head coach Fasil Tekalegn in the upcoming season.
Debebe is one of the most decorated Ethiopian Premier League center-backs and made a name for himself at Saint George after a breakout season at the now-defunct Arbaminch Textile. Last season, Debebe was the technical adviser and team leader of Arbaminch Ketema. He is now set to become the assistant coach of Hadiya Hosaina. Hosaina also named former Ethiopian Coffee winger Khalid Mohammed as their new head coach after Girma Tadesse departed for Wolwalo Adigrat University.
Both players were key when the Waliyas secured qualification for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations after a 31-year wait. Girma is remembered for scoring in the AFCON against Zambia, when ten-man Ethiopia came from behind to force a 1–1 draw.
