
African players continued their impactful presence in the Premier League, with both a goal and an assist recorded on Wednesday between DR Congo national team star Yoane Wissa and Egyptian world superstar Mohamed Salah.
Mohamed Salah – Liverpool (Egypt)
The Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah, extended his brilliance with Liverpool, providing an assist in his team's 2-0 home victory over Newcastle United.
In the 63rd minute, Salah displayed his exceptional vision, delivering a pass to Alexis Mac Allister, who fired the ball into the net to seal Liverpool’s win.
Earlier, Dominik Szoboszlai had opened the scoring in the 11th minute.
With this victory, Liverpool strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League table, reaching 67 points—13 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, although having played one more match.
Salah continues to shine, solidifying his status as the top assist provider in the Premier League this season with 17 assists. This also makes him the most assists provider across Europe’s top five leagues, not just in England.
Additionally, Salah leads the Premier League goal-scoring charts with 25 goals so far this season.
Yoane Wissa – Brentford (Congo DR)
Congolese forward Yoane Wissa maintained his good form for Brentford, scoring a crucial goal in his team’s 1-1 home draw against Everton.
In the fourth minute of added time at the end of the first half, Wissa reacted to a rebound off the crossbar, heading the ball into the net to give the lead to his team.
Later, Jake O'Brien scored the equaliser for Everton in the 77th minute.
This goal marked Wissa's 13th strike in the Premier League this season, placing him seventh in the league’s top scorer standings.
