While pundits like Jamie Carragher continue to find ways to diminish Mohamed Salah's argument for being the most in form player in the world, the Egyptian just continues to let his play on the pitch do the talking.
Salah once again contributed to another Liverpool victory in the Premier League on Sunday as the league leaders overcame West Ham United by a 2-1 score at Anfield. Salah set up Luis Díaz for the opening goal in the 18th minute when he got behind the Hammers defense on the right wing and provided a perfect cross for Díaz to finish.
Salah now has 45 goal contributions this season in league play (27 goals, 18 assists), setting a new Premier League record in the modern era of 38 matches in a season surpassing previous holders Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland who shared the honor of having 44 goal contributions. The all-time record is shared by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole who each had 47 goal contributions during the era when Premier League teams played 42 matches each season.
After an Andy Robertson own goal leveled the match for West Ham in the 86th minute, Virgil van Dijk replied minutes later to clinch another massive three points for Liverpool who now lead closest contenders Arsenal by thirteen points with only six league matches remaining.
Eliminated from the UEFA Champions League and domestic cup competitions, Liverpool and Salah can concentrate all their efforts to clinching a 20th English top flight title. The Reds will next be in action next Sunday when they travel to face hapless Leicester City where Salah can take a step closer and potentially overtake Shearer and Cole's shared record.
