Liverpool manager Arne Slot says Mohamed Salah’s performances have been 'un-human' for the better part of the season after guiding the club to the Premier League title.
The Dutch manager said he always expects the unthinkable to happen when the Egyptian receives the ball with a goal as a likely outcome.
“The first thought that goes through my head when I see a ball moving towards Mo, I am like, 'It's a quite big chance, this could lead to a goal' because that's what Mo normally does,” he told Liverpool media.
He said this after the Premier League champions lost their final away league match 3-2 to Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Monday, May 19, 2025.
Slot said he was not concerned that Salah did not score during the game, as he had delivered the goods in winning the championship.
“He has been throughout this season almost un-human, but there were moments in the season where he was human. So, it's not the first time that he is not scoring for one or two games in a row, but the good thing for us is that this hardly ever happens, and if it happens, you can be sure he will score in either the third or fourth game again,” he added.
The Reds led 2-1 at the break after goals from Harvey Elliott and Dominik Szoboszlai in between Yasin Ayari’s goal. The Sea Gulls went on to score two more goals through Kaoru Mitoma and Jack Hinshelwood to condemn Liverpool to a fourth league defeat of the season.
Salah has been in scintillating form throughout 2024-25, helping Liverpool surge to the Premier League title. He has delivered 33 goals and 23 assists in just 49 appearances.
The 32-year-old and his Cameroonian counterpart Bryan Mbeumo were nominated for the 2024-2025 English Premier League Player of the Season Award alongside Liverpool teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk.
Salah and Mbeumo will battle it out for the accolade alongside Nottingham Forest's Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White, Newcastle United's Alexander Isak, and Arsenal's Declan Rice.
