Egypt international Mohamed Salah revealed his delight after reaching another landmark with Liverpool following the Reds’ 2-0 victory against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.
The Reds brought to an end a four-game losing run in the competition with goals in either half from Salah and Ryan Gravenberch. Salah came up with his 250th goal for the club to open the scoring in first-half stoppage time, before Gravenberch wrapped up the points prior to the hour mark.
The Egyptian took advantage of a loose pass out from Aston Villa custodian Emi Martinez to finish into an unguarded net. Speaking after the game, Salah said as quoted by Liverpool website: “It’s a great feeling to score goals and win trophies for such a big club. It’s something I don’t take for granted.
“I’m so proud and so happy about that achievement.”
On the win which ended Liverpool’s poor run of results, he said: “It’s very important. We had a few losses in the Premier League and Champions League but I’m glad we started to come back on track now.
“It’s a good plus before very important games against [Real] Madrid and City. It’s a very important win for us.”
Salah added: “I said from the beginning – I know football, I’ve played for many years – I said it’s a very tricky season for us. We had a few new players, very good signings but they need time to adapt to the old team. And we lost a few good players as well.
“We just need time to adapt and know each other’s games, and I think we’ll be fine.”
Salah has so far featured in nine Premier League matches, scored four goals and provided two assists. He has now scored in his last two appearances as third-placed Liverpool stayed seven points behind leaders Arsenal in the title race.
