Salah has shown lack of appetite for Liverpool – Souness

Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has openly claimed that Egypt forward Mohamed Salah has yet to show his true colours this campaign for the Premier League club.

According to Souness, Salah’s ineffectiveness has given Liverpool’s opponents a weak area to exploit the champions and defeat them.

“How long have we got?’ Souness posed a question to talkSPORT. “He’s been an absolute superstar. This is the nicest thing I can say about Salah, he’s been the go-to man for the last seven years.

“If you’re picking an all-time Liverpool eleven, he’s one of the first names on the team sheet. I think it’s his brother that’s turned up this season.”

Salah has shown lack of appetite

“But he’s shown a lack of appetite and, I’m sorry, hard words sometimes are the kindest words and I think he needs hard words that ultimately are getting him back to being the superstar that he’s been for Liverpool, but this season he has not turned up.”

So far this season, Salah has managed 12 Premier League appearances, scored four goals and provided two assists. Salah will miss a chance to add to his goal tally when he leaves Liverpool for Egypt ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

The AFCON which kicks off in December will see Egypt pooled in Group B alongside Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. The Pharaohs will kick off their campaign against the Warriors of Zimbabwe on December 22.
