Egypt’s technical staff has decided to rest Liverpool star Mohamed Salah for the team’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Guinea-Bissau, marking the final fixture of the African qualifying campaign for the 2026 tournament.
A source from the Egyptian Football Association told Yallakora that Salah will be excused from joining the national team camp ahead of the Guinea-Bissau match. The decision comes after Egypt officially booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 3–0 victory over Djibouti on Wednesday.
According to the same source, Salah is expected to spend a couple of days off in Egypt before returning to England to rejoin Liverpool’s preparations.
The Egyptian winger now can turn his focus to club duties, as Liverpool prepare for a highly anticipated Premier League showdown against Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.
