Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is expected to rejoin the matchday squad for Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Brighton, according to a report from The Athletic.
The Egyptian star was left out of the Reds’ midweek Champions League clash against Inter Milan, but the outlet confirmed he is now back in contention after holding “positive discussions” with head coach Arne Slot on Friday.
Salah’s reinstatement comes amid ongoing tension following a turbulent spell in which he was benched for three consecutive matches—against West Ham United, Sunderland, and Leeds United. The tension became visible after the third game, when he expressed dissatisfaction over his prolonged exclusion and hinted that “someone” wanted him to get all the blame for the bad results.
The report added that Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, played a significant role in the decision to leave Salah out of the recent trip to Milan.
Following Saturday’s match, Salah is expected to travel to join Egypt’s national team camp ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
