Liverpool secured a 3–1 victory over hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday evening in the Round of 16 of the FA Cup.

The first half ended goalless, with both sides struggling to score goals. However, Liverpool broke the deadlock early in the second half when left-back Andy Robertson fired a shot from outside the box in the 51st minute.

Just minutes later, Egyptian star Mohamed Salah doubled Liverpool’s lead in the 53rd minute. Robertson delivered a low cross into the area which Salah met with a direct finish into the net. The goal required a VAR review before being confirmed, marking Salah’s second goal against Wolves within a week, after he had already scored at the same stadium earlier in the week in the Premier League.

Midfielder Curtis Jones added Liverpool’s third goal in the 75th minute. The goal came shortly after Salah had been substituted in the 69th minute for Jeremie Frimpong.

Wolverhampton managed to pull one back late in stoppage time through substitute Hwang Hee-chan in the 91st minute, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

With this result, Liverpool became the first team to secure qualification to the FA Cup quarter-finals this season.
