Egypt forward Mohamed Salah received words of praise from Liverpool manager Arnes Slot after he scored to help Liverpool advance to the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup by defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 3-0 at Anfield on Saturday.
Curtis Jones had opened the scoring in the round-four tie after 42 minutes to set the hosts on their way. The Reds’ spot in Monday night’s draw was confirmed by a Dominik Szoboszlai hit and penalty from Salah in the second half.

Salah produced a superb volley to assist Szoboszlai’s powerful strike for their second before winning and scoring the penalty. The Egyptian skipped past a defender and then drew a challenge inside the area from Pascal Gross, leading to the referee pointing to the spot.
He dusted himself down and dispatched the effort into the top corner.
Speaking after the game, Slot was asked about the performance of Salah. He told Liverpool website: “It’s very nice to have him on the scoresheet again and him having an assist.
“But I think what I like the most at the moment, that he’s scoring goals is something you can almost expect, but he also helps the team a lot defensively. That is something very positive – what the team also needs – and I think more and more players are now capable of playing at this intensity level every three days.
“That is where we struggled a lot in the beginning of the season, where it was sometimes hard for us to bring the intensity level once a week, let alone every three days.”
Slot continued: “But now we’re able to do so, we see more and more the quality we have. That’s why I’ve said so many times already that the future looks really bright for this club with these players, and I think the recent seven, eight, nine, 10 games are showing that as well.”
Salah has now scored and assisted in more games (15) than any other player in the Premier League since last season.
