Ibrahim Hassan, director of the Egypt national team, has confirmed that team captain Mohamed Salah will miss the Pharaohs’ March training camp due to injury.

Egypt are set to play two international friendlies against Saudi Arabia national team and Spain national team on March 27 and 31, as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Salah suffered an injury during his side’s clash against Galatasaray in the second leg of the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. He was unable to complete the match, leaving the pitch in the 72nd minute after feeling the injury.

In addition, Mohamed Hamdy, the Pyramids FC player, has also been ruled out of the March camp after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

Salah’s absence represents a significant blow for Egypt, while the injury to Hamdy further reduces the squad options ahead of the upcoming friendlies.
