Malawian attacker Chikumbutso Salima has sent a message to his former employers FCB Nyasa Big Bullets after securing a transfer to Al Merrikh SC of Sudan.
In a statement, the Malawian international said he owes his rising career to the foundation Bullets laid for him.
“Grateful for the journey with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, the memories, the lessons, and the incredible fans,” he wrote on his official Facebook page.
“As I begin a new chapter with Al-Merrikh SC, I carry nothing but respect and appreciation for where I’m coming from.”
The highly-rated 24-year-old forward spent two seasons with Bullets, the record 17-time Malawi Super League champions, scoring 29 goals in 69 appearances.
The Flames budding star had a stellar 2025 season, registering 13 assists and scoring 15 goals in 28 league matches, at par with then Nigerian-born team-mate Babatunde Adepoju in goals.
All eyes are on Salima to see if he will carry his hit form to
Al-Merrikh, who are competing in the Rwandan League, alongside Al Hilal Omdurman SC, due to the ongoing war and instability in Sudan.
Sporting activities in Sudan have been suspended for several months due to the ongoing war and security instability, forcing clubs to seek alternative competitions abroad.
Consequently, the Confederation of African Football approved the requests of Sudanese giants to participate in the Rwandan Premier League. Last season (2024–2025), Al Hilal and Al-Merrikh temporarily competed in the Mauritanian league.
