Veteran Nigerian coach Salisu Yusuf has officially parted ways with Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Nasarawa United, confirming his move to an undisclosed club in the Benin Republic.

The former Super Eagles assistant coach has already arrived in Cotonou to finalize what is understood to be a lucrative deal, marking his first foray into club management outside of Nigeria.

Salisu took charge of Nasarawa United during the second half of the recently concluded NPFL 2024-25 season. He was instrumental in guiding the “Solid Miners” away from the threat of relegation, a testament to his tactical acumen and experience.

Under the 63-year-old’s brief tenure, the club also enjoyed a commendable run in the President Federation Cup, reaching the semi-finals before their exit.

Yusuf was courted by his former club, Kano Pillars, before agreeing to the offer from the Beninese club. It is the first time he will be managing a club outside Nigeria.

While the specific club remains unconfirmed, the news of his move has generated considerable buzz within Nigerian football circles, as many will be keen to follow his progress in a new league and country.
