Louis Denolle, the agent of Senegalese striker Sambou Soumano, has addressed recent rumors linking his client with a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Speaking privately to Pan-Africa Football, Denolle denied any official or unofficial communication from Al Ahly to him regarding Soumano. Claims about Al Ahly's interest in the Lorient forward emerged in recent hours with reports suggesting negotiations between the club and Denolle were underway.
Currently, Al Ahly's main striker is Wessam Abou Ali who has performed very well since joining the club but lacks sufficient competition or reliable alternatives in the squad. Beyond Abou Ali, the only available backup option is young Ahly youth product Samir Mohamed who made his professional debut this season and has only three appearances.
Previous backup Kahraba appears set to leave the club at some point during the ongoing transfer window. Strengthening Al Ahly's forward line with a high-caliber striker would not only enhance their attacking options but also provide a safety net for any potential injuries or dips in form.
This season, Sambou Soumano has featured in seventeen matches for Lorient who are the current league leaders in France's second tier Ligue 2. The 23-year-old has produced seven goals and two assists this season following loan spells at Belgian club Eupen as well as French clubs Rodez AF and Quevilly Rouen.
