Morocco youngster Samir El Mourabet has opened up on his invitation for the two international friendlies in March.
The 20-year-old, who plies his trade with French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg earned his debut senior call for the two games against Ecuador and Paraguay.
Speaking in an interview with FRFM Xtra, the former Morocco U-20 star expressed joy over his invitation.
“It’s a dream to play for Morocco and we must continue to work to stay there’l he told FRFM Xtra.
El Mourabet who played nine matches in Morocco U-20’s run up to winning the last FIFA U-20 World Cup, has target a good finish at the FIFA senior tournament in Canada, USA and Mexico.
“The next goal is the World Cup and going as far as possible in the competition.”
Samir El Mourabet and Strasbourg teammate, Gessime Yassine received their first Morocco call-ups after being named in the squad on Thursday.
El Mourabet has been in fine form this season, featuring in 27 games with two assists for Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1 this campaign.
The Atlas Lions will play Ecuador on Friday, March 27 before slugging it out against Paraguay three days later.
Morocco have qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup where they are paired in Group C against powerhouse Brazil, Scotland and Haiti.
Their two international friendlies form part of preparation for the mundial where Morocco reached the semifinals at the last tournament in Qatar.
The North Africans are in the center of controversy, having been declared winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite losing 1-0 to Senegal in the finals on home soil.
Senegal has indicated its intension to contest the case at the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
