Guinean Football Federation (Féguifoot) president Bouba Sampil has opened a case against the federation he leads after being suspended by the general assembly. Sampil was initially sidelined by an Executive Committee member before being permanently dismissed later by the general assembly.
Sampil vowed to fight back and has initiated legal proceedings against the federation at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). He hopes to be reinstated as president. The general assembly cited a lack of good governance and transparency as reasons for his dismissal. Sampil has denied these allegations for the past two months.
Sampil claims the meeting held by the executive committee was illegal and therefore, any decisions arising from it are null. The defiant Sampil told the local press that he will fight for his position. “I will not comply with illegal decisions.”
CAS is expected to render a final decision on the matter, as Féguifoot hopes to resolve another controversial case. The federation is still fighting for a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at the expense of Tanzania after Guinea lodged a protest claiming that Tanzania failed to follow match protocol during their decisive qualifying match in Dar es Salaam.
