Samuel Chukwueze’s absence explained by Fulham coach Silva

Fulham head coach Marco Silva has given the reason for the surprising omission of new loan signing Samuel Chukwueze from the matchday squad for their English Premier League clash against Leeds United on Saturday.

Chukwueze, who switched to the Craven Cottage on loan from AC Milan on deadline day, was not included in the squad list with Silva citing a need for the player to properly acclimate to his new environment.

Speaking on the club’s official website, Silva explained the rationale behind his decision.

“It was impossible for Chukwueze to start, probably he doesn’t know all his teammates’ names. He had two days of training after arriving on the last day, and off to play for his country.”

Despite the initial delay, Silva has expressed his confidence in the winger’s ability to make a positive impact once he is fully integrated. The manager had previously praised both Chukwueze and fellow new signing, Kevin, stating that their profiles would add “what we’ve been looking for in those areas of the pitch.”

Fulham went on to secure a late 1-0 victory over Leeds.
