Saudi Pro League: Al Qadsiah maintain top-5 pace with Aubameyang double

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to thrive late in his career as the Gabon national team star once again played a major role in another victory for club Al Qadsiah, who dominated in a 4-1 victory over Al Kholood on Friday.

The former Arsenal striker opened the scoring inside thirteen minutes and completed Qadsiah’s rout with his second goal close to the hour mark. Mexican international Julián Quiñones added the other two goals for the hosts who remain firmly in the hunt for a place in the AFC Champions League next season.

Aubameyang and Quiñones are the most potent duo in the league, combining for 33 of Qadsiah’s 46 goals this season. The 35-year-old Aubameyang now has fourteen goals in league play along with three goals in Qadsiah’s successful King’s Cup run, which has them competing in the final against Pro League leaders Al Ittihad on May 9.

Qadsiah are currently in fourth place on the Pro League table, one points back of Al-Nassr with the top-3 finishing clubs qualifying for the AFC Champions League. The Khobar-based club can also qualify for continental competition if they win the King’s Cup which would qualify them for the AFC Champions League Two. If Ittihad win the cup final, Qadsiah can also qualify if they finish in fourth on the league table.
