Saudi Pro League: Habib Diallo’s brace saves Damac from the claws of Al Hilal

Senegal international Habib Diallo was called to duty by Saudi Pro League club Damac and he executed the exercise perfectly well on Saturday.


The 29-year-old centre forward rose to the occasion, scoring a brace to rescue Damac from the claws of a star studded Al Hilal side. Hilal, who were visiting got their opening goal from Marcos Leonardo on the 32nd minute mark.


The strike separated the two sides moving into the half time break. Diallo however showed why he is capped 31 times by the Teranga Lions by pulling level for Damac on the 50th minute mark before adding his second of the day at 73 minutes.


Hilal, who were looking to keep the chase on table toppers Al Ittihad netted their second of the day and the equalizer from Milinkovic-Savic with 77 minutes played. The score line remained 2-2 until the final whistle with Al Hilal rooted second on the league table on 47 points, two behind Al Ittihad after 19 games.


Damac sit 11th on 23 points from 19 league matches. Diallo’s brace on the day shoots his season’s scoring tally to six goals from 18 matches and three assists.


He joined Damac on loan from Al Shabab. Born in France, Diallo has previously played for the Senegal national U-23 before earning his cap with the senior side.
