Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has applauded the character of AFC Bournemouth after they battled from a goal down to draw 2-2 against Leeds United in a Premier League fixture at Elland Road on Saturday.
Semenyo continued his brilliant form by firing the Cherries into the lead in the first-half with an excellent free-kick, the home side responded with goals from Joe Rodon and Sean Longstaff.
However, substitute Junior Kroupi’s first goal for Bournemouth earned a dramatic late point. Speaking after the game, Semenyo hailed the squad’s character to fight back in a difficult game in Yorkshire.
“It was scrappy towards the end to be honest,” said Semenyo as quoted by Bournemouth website. “We wanted to keep getting the ball into the box to cause them problems and it was tough today. We never gave up though.
“The boys have got the character as they’ve proven so far this season, the desire to make things happen and keep going. We knew there were spaces in transitions and wanted to exploit that, they had momentum and it was tough, but we have been resilient again.
“It’s a long-old season, we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves just yet. But we take a point and move onto Friday.”
Semenyo now has four goals in six matches in the Premier League as the Ghanaian international continues his hot start to the 2025-26 season. Up next for the Cherries is a home match against Fulham on October 3.
