The Senegalese Football Federation has announced plans to celebrate their Africa Cup of Nations 2025 triumph during an international friendly against Peru national team in Paris.

Senegal national team will face Peru on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the iconic Stade de France, in a match that has been framed as a historic celebration of African football beyond the continent.

In an official statement, the federation declared: “The trophy has no borders. It belongs to every supporter who makes football shine across the world.”

The statement added that while African football is played on the continent, it is often celebrated in global cities like Paris, London, and Brussels. However, this marks the first time a crowned nation brings the trophy abroad to celebrate with its diaspora.

The federation emphasized that this initiative “breaks the codes,” transforming the Senegal vs Peru friendly into a symbolic global celebration on March 28.

However, this announcement comes amid controversy following a decision by the Confederation of African Football Appeals Committee, which ruled that Senegal lost the AFCON 2025 final 3-0 against Morocco national team due to incidents surrounding the match.

CAF based its decision on Articles 82, 83, and 84 of its regulations, officially awarding the title to Morocco, who hosted the tournament.
