After suffering relegation with Stade Reims, Senegal national team goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf will stay in France’s Ligue 1 with his transfer to OGC Nice confirmed by the club on Thursday.
Diouf took a big step forward this season for club and country with standout performances for Reims, including when he set the record for most saves (14) in a Ligue 1 match during Reims’ 2-0 victory over Lens in April.
The 26-year-old former French youth international also made his debut for the Senegal senior national team against Ireland in early June after switching his international allegiance, playing the entire match in Dublin as the Lions of Teranga played to a 1-1 draw.
The Montreuil native, who made his professional debut with Troyes in May 2019, moves to Nice for a reported fee of €6.5 million. Diouf is set to be the starter for Nice with transfer interest continuing to swirl around Polish keeper Marcin Bułka after an outstanding 2024-25 campaign.
Nice finished in fourth place in Ligue 1 this past season, qualifying them for the qualifying stages of the UEFA Champions League. Diouf appears set to be trusted with the shot stopping duties and has an excellent opportunity to take a major step forward in his career if he can seize his chance in a larger spotlight.
