FC Metz
Abasse Ba has been named reserve team coach of French Ligue 1 side FC Metz. The Senegalese left FC Sochaux in June 2025.
Ba, 49, was working as an assistant coach at Sochaux but left to take the helm of the reserve side at Metz. “His arrival is fully in line with FC Metz’s sporting strategy to strengthen the bridge between the training centre and the professional team. The club welcomes Abasse Ba and wishes him every success in his new role,” reads the official statement from the club.
The former defender played for Le Havre, Dijon, and had a loan spell at Qatari side Al Rayyan in a career that lasted 13 years. Since retiring, Ba has coached the youth sides of Le Havre and served as assistant coach at Sochaux in National 1.
Metz has a strong link with Senegalese football. The French club partners with Senegalese side Génération Foot in nurturing young talent. Ba is expected to further strengthen this connection.
