Tottenham Hotspur coach Ange Postecoglou has declared Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr fit to face Manchester United in Wednesday's UEFA Europa League final.
The defensive midfielder was a doubt heading into the final at Estadio de San Mamés after being forced off through injury in Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa last Friday.
However, briefing the press on the eve of the final, Postecoglou confirmed that Sarr was taken off as a precaution after he "felt something in his back".
The London Evening Standard writes that the “Senegalese is a leading contender to start in midfield against United in Bilbao, although Postecoglou used a 4-4-2 formation at Villa Park, suggesting he could be preparing to change his system for the Final.”
Sarr now looks set to face fellow Africans Andre Onana, Noussair Mazraoui and Amad Diallo, who could line up in the opposite camp, after manager Ruben Amorim named them in Manchester United's 26-man squad.
Both sides will have the opportunity to salvage underwhelming Premier League seasons, with United in 16th place and Spurs just one point below them in 17th.
