Sevilla FC have described their visit to Morocco as part of a strategy to grow their fan base in the North African country.

The Spanish giants announced the growth strategy ahead of their friendly against Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco on Tuesday evening.

“Through this fixture, we will extend our links with Morocco, one of the countries where our fan base is growing and growing. As a result, Morocco has been highlighted as a key target in our internationalisation plan,” the statement reads.

Joaquín Caparrós’ team has since urged their fans in Morocco to turn up in large numbers to witness the friendly scheduled for Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.

“In this match, we will go head-to-head against one of the most successful teams not only in Morocco but in the whole of Africa,” the statement adds.

Wydad AC are gearing up for participation in the next FIFA Club World Cup after winning the CAF Champions League in 2022. Wydad have since confirmed Sevilla’s arrival in Morocco, urging their fans to ‘make it a great match!”

The Moroccan giants have beefed up their squad with the signing of Stephane Aziz Ki from Young Africans. The blonde-haired attacker has joined other stars such as South Africans Thembinkosi Lorch and Cassius Mailula.
