2027 AFCON: Seychelles coach: ‘We analysed Lesotho strength’

Seychelles national team coach Ralph Jean-Louis says his side managed to hold Lesotho to a 0-0 draw on Thursday as a result of carefully studying them.

Speaking in post-match media briefing, the Seychelles mentor said they had identified Lesotho’s strength and weaknesses going into the match.

“For us, we knew the strength of Lesotho so we tried to work on our strength and it did work so for the next game, we have to hold it more because you can see on the offensive, it did not work,” Jean-Louis said.

“We will try to work on the areas where we did not do well. In the next game, we have to defend solidly. We were playing like an away team. If we can get a goal on Sunday then it will be good. When we are with the ball, we have to try to play forward without losing it.”

Lesotho coach acknowledges Seychelles defensive solidity

Speaking earlier, Lesotho national team coach Bob Mafoso credited Seychelles for their defensive display.

Now it is the turn of Lesotho to host Seychelles on March 31 at the same venue in the reverse fixture.

The overall winner between Lesotho and Seychelles will secure a spot in the group phase of the AFCON finals which Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya will co-host in 2027.
