Shabana FC coach Okidi takes responsibility after back-to-back defeats

Kenyan Premier League outfit Shabana FC head coach Peter Okidi has taken responsibility for the team’s recent poor run of results in the FKF Premier League.

After starting the season on a high and leading the 18-team league table for a period of time, the Kisii-based Glamour Boys now find themselves sitting sixth with seven points from six matches.

Since their 1-0 win against Bandari away in Mombasa, Tore Bobe have gone for four straight matches without a win. They drew 1-1 against Tusker, lost 2-1 against Posta Rangers, 1-0 against Mathare United and 2-1 against AFC Leopards.

‘We know we’ve let you down’

In a statement on his social media pages Okidi confessed: “By acknowledging the frustrations and disappointment our fans have felt due to our recent poor run of results, we know we’ve let you down, and for that I apologise.

“As the head coach, I take full responsibility for the team’s performance. Football being a game of high and low moments. This month has really been our low moment.”

He added: “We believe we will rise up to our high moments which is winning. We are facing some challenges from injuries. But that’s no excuse for our lack of getting positive results. We are working hard to address these issues and improve our performance. We deeply appreciate your continued support and understanding.”

The former Nakuru All Stars tactician concluded: “We’re committed to making more efforts and getting back on track. Even a candle burns itself to give light, sacrifice is the price of significance. Thank you Shabana fans for your passion and loyalty.”

Shabana will return to action against Kariobangi Sharks at Gusii Stadium on Saturday.
