Struggling Shabana FC part ways with head coach Peter Okidi

Shabana FC head coach Peter Okidi has parted ways with the FKF Premier League outfit following their 2-1 home defeat against Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday.

The defeat left the Kisii-based Glamour Boys in third place on the league table after overseeing a total of 24 matches.

In a statement, the club, nicknamed Tore Bobe, said: โ€œShabana wishes to inform our supporters, partners, and the general public that the club has mutually agreed to part ways with head coach Peter Okidi.

Shabana wishes Okidi best in future endeavors

โ€œThe decision has been reached amicably, and with mutual respect, following constructive discussions between both parties.โ€

The statement continued: โ€œThe club expresses its sincere appreciation to coach Okidi for his commitment, professionalism, and the dedication he demonstrated during his tenure. His contribution to the team is highly valued, and he leaves with our utmost respect.

โ€œWe wish coach Okidi the very best in his future endeavors, both professionally and personally. Regarding the technical bench, we will communicate in due course through the clubโ€™s official channels.โ€

Okidi joined Shabana in 2024

Okidi joined Shabana in 2024 from FKF Division One side Nakuru Bucks, taking charge of his first match against Nairobi City Stars at Gusii Stadium.

After a difficult start that saw the team endure a five-match winless run, he turned things around and guided the side to a fifth-place finish with 53 points.

He led the Glamour Boys to the Round of 16 in the FKF Cup, where they were eliminated by Kakamega Homeboyz at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

Last season, Okidi took over from the sixth match and went on to manage 29 league matches alongside three FKF Cup fixtures. This season, he has overseen 24 league matches and two FKF Cup games.

Across his 58 matches in charge, Okidi recorded 29 wins, 15 draws, and 14 losses. He departs with Shabana sitting third in the league standings and having reached the FKF Cup Round of 16.
